Ingredients: 1 tsp olive oil 1/2 onion, finely diced 1/2 leek, white part only washed and finely sliced 1 tsp crushed garlic 1/4 tsp ground coriander 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/4 tsp nutmeg 500gms pumpkin peeled and diced 1/2 large or small potato, peeled and diced 500ml vegetable stock 1/4 cup (60 ml) cream salt and pepper to taste
Method: 1. heat oil in a large saucepan over low heat, add onion and leek and cook for 2-3 minutes until they are softened but not coloured. 2. add garlic, ground coriander, ground cumin and nutmeg and cook, stirring for 30 seconds. 3. add the pumpkin, potato and stock and bring to the boil. 4. turn heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 mins. (vegetables should be soft). 5. Allow to cool slightly, then blend with stick blender. 6. return soup to pot, stir through cream and reheat gently. season to state.

How did you delegate the tasks during the cook with your partner? i was the one who prepare all the ingredients for the soup by collecting them and dicing the ingredients. then my partner boiled the ingredients and blended then into a delicious soup.
What aspects of this cook did you find difficult and how did you overcome these? it was difficult to know when exactly to blend the vegetables because they didn't change state of colour from the heat but we were able to tell when to blend it when the potato and pumpkin was squishy.
What aspects of this cook did you enjoy and why? i enjoyed dice all the ingredients for the pumpkin soup
What new skills did you learn this week? I learnt how to blend all ingredients together to make a delicious soup. A brief history of this dish, 50 -100 words (where did it originate from etc). -Pumpkin soup originated in France. The French developed several recipes and even a fancy way to serve the soup as noted in the British translated 1812 Professed Cook. The pumpkin shell was cut into two pieces in a way it could be put back together.
