Ingredients list:
i tablespoon of oil either olive or grapeseed
1/2 onion, diced
500g of minced meat
4 rashes of bacon
4 pieces of lettuce (optional)
1/2 tomato sliced (optional)
4 burger buns
4 slices of cheese
Tomato sauce
American Mustard
Method:
1. Add oil and preheat the pan.
2. Dice the onion finely.
3. In a bowl add the minced meat, add the onion and mix together.
4. Split the mix into 4 even amounts and roll into 4 burger paddies. Each one should be approximately 1.5 cm thick
5. Cook the bacon in the pan on medium heat. When cooked remove from heat.
6. Cook the burgers in the pan, flipping over after 5 minutes to ensure they are evenly cooked.
7. Add cheese to the buns.
8. Preheat the buns in the grill to warm them for 1 minute on medium heat and lightly melt the cheese. Constantly check the buns to ensure they don't burn.
8. Remove the buns from the grill and lay the burger ontop of the cheese followed by lettuce, tomato and your choice of tomato or mustard dressing.
9. Repeat using the remaining 3 buns and serve warm.

My partner put the meat and onion into a bowl and he mixed it together while I chopped the tomato. My partner rolled the burgers while I cooked the bacon. My partner grilled the buns with the cheese while I cooked the burgers. We plated the burgers together.
What aspects of this cook did you find difficult and how did you overcome these? Dicing onion for the first time was difficult. I asked the teacher to show me the correct technique which made the easier.
What aspects of this cook did you enjoy and why? I enjoyed cooking the bacon and burgers to ensure perfection.
Elaborate on your 5 star rating. The burgers were almost perfect. Its simplicity left me wondering what other additions you could make to the mix to add depth to the flavor like adding carrot or an egg.
What new skills did you learn this week? I learnt how to dice an onion and cook a burger perfectly so it is evenly cooked throughout.
